Stumbled on this and figured it belongs here: a team called ArtCraft is rebuilding the whole Adobe suite from scratch in Rust and giving it away free under permissive open-source licenses. No subscription, no account, no nulling required, it's genuinely free.
The lineup so far: PhotoCraft (Photoshop - layers, masks, adjustment layers, layer styles, type, vectors, brushes), VectorCraft (Illustrator), FilmCraft (Premiere), LightCraft (Lightroom + raw developer), EffectCraft (After Effects), DesignCraft (InDesign) and PdfCraft (Acrobat).
What makes it interesting is that they're native apps, not Electron wrappers - real builds for macOS, Windows and Linux, and most of them also compile to WebAssembly so you can run them in a browser tab. Everything stays local on your own files, and the UI/shortcuts are deliberately familiar so there's basically nothing to relearn. There's also CLI/MCP automation hooks if you're into scripting or AI agents.
Fair warning: PhotoCraft and PdfCraft are early alpha, the rest are still in development, so expect rough edges. Worth watching though.
Hope this helps. Peace!
